Guitar Hero

So, Ashley got me the best Christmas present ever. She got me an acoustic guitar. I've played it for like four hours.

Now, I don't know /how/ to play, but I know some chords... D, G, A, Em, and C...  Just enough to start learning how to play "Let Her Cry" by Hootie and the Blowfish (I learned the chords before I learned they were that song).

I know the chords, but I don't know how to strum.  And, while I can play the chords at the appropriate time, while listening to the track, I can't do it without the track because I don't have the timing, because I can't sing the song, because I can't sing.

Maybe with a metronome...

Also, yes, I am learning via TAB and not, in fact, via sheet music.  But I am teaching myself, so I don't know how I would do it otherwise.

Anyway, it's a way cool gift, and I'm super stoked.

Just called my grandparents to tell them I'll be visiting in less than a week.

They were not thrilled. Actually, Grahm sounded really worried. Apparently she doesn't think I can make a drive of that magnitude by myself. She basically begged me to bring someone else with me, anyone else -- "who ever it is, they can stay with us!"

*shakes head* and she doesn't think my car can make it. She told me so. I told her the mechanic I talked to disagrees. She asked me if I have a spare tire, she asked me when my last oil change was, she asked me all sorts of questions.

And then she said she'll be praying for me. And to call before I leave.

Totally up to the challenge. I mean, it's only six and a half hours.
